Being beautiful, no matter where?
Well, I am certainly the best spokesperson here then! I’ve put myself in amusing and sometimes dangerous situations, to look good before a date, a night out or attending a professional meeting. Here are some examples of “on the go makeovers”. But maybe you have experienced the same?
In the car: To be 100% clear, this is forbidden, it is very bad and dangerous to drive and to apply makeup at the same time. But I‘ve tried. The result? Well, I have to admit that I was quite good at manipulating pencil and mascara on my eyes without looking in the car mirror. I just acted mechanically. But when I lost control, not of the car, but of the pencil and the lipstick, I cried so hard for the stains on my beautiful white trousers that I now keep the makeover for the moment I am safe in the parking space. Even if I have a steady hand, I am still concerned for my clothes. Now I just put tissues on my thighs in case I spill something!
In the office toilets: Those places are NOT designed for girls who want to refresh their look in an unpleasant atmosphere. No room for bags, too big a distance between you and the mirror, awful smells and decoration together with strong lighting. Well, you get the message: you are here to work, not to pamper yourself. Then when your eyes meet with a colleague, you sometimes just feel you look like the girl who is struggling to seduce and get a date with her boss. How many times did I get comments from female colleagues telling me how attractively I dressed and applied makeup? They just could not stop emphasising it, and I did not stop doing it either.
On public transport: God, people just love staring at you when you are applying your lipstick. They have so much time to kill. They seem to follow your lines and mimic your gestures. What a pressured and embarrassing moment! I am sometimes so tempted to smile at them and ask them if I should add a red or a pink gloss. I cannot blame them because I also love seeing girls spending hours on applying their mascara. It is true that with such behaviour, you are showing an intimate side of yourself in public so you should accept their stares graciously, albeit with a little humour.
In the street while walking: Yes, I did it, ladies! Again, am I so busy that I did not even have 5 minutes to go the ladies and do it properly? Of course we always have the choice to set about our day differently. But I know I’ve got everything in my bag and I can in a discreet and quick manner apply powder + blush+ gloss in a few secs without being caught. Why should I bother? I just look in a shop window, smile and it’s done!
I would be very curious to know if you have also felt the same way while having an on the go makeover.

Ahaha, I freak out when I’m putting make-up on whilst I’m on the train, I think the people staring are silently tagging me as extremely vain…

Recently I tried the bus/metro make up. Bus is quite a challenge, with the driver who is experiencing some F1 drive style and the 50 years old man, so glad to catch some intimicy that he wants to talk to you all the way to your work … Metro is a better option to me, giving that there is nobody BUT ME in the metro for the 3d first stations (the good part from living at the terminus
) and that’s enough time for me to get ready for “meet-friends” make up !

@novalinnhe: well, hear some music at the same time! I feel difficult too to avoid that feeling, but let’s have fun tough!
@katheline: I don’t know which public transport is the most convenient, but for sure you’ll meet more attractive men in the subways vs. old people in the bus
